Last night for the first time ever… we went on an investigative mission.

Aptly titled: Locating my cervix and os…

We pulled out our new speculum and got really personal… Up until last night we had completely let the doctors manage everything below the belt but we figured we should have an idea of what we’re doing before trying to insem at home with a known donor.

After the initial giggling period…

We tackled a detailed Q&A section, which went something like this:

  • Q: huh… (long pause) what do you suppose that is (slight pause) can you feel that?
  • A: YES… I can… STOPPPP … I have no clue what it is – you’re down there – what does it look like…
  • Q: I don’t really know – different I guess???

This went on for quite a while. It was a slight mess but I think we learned some things.

We think we understand where to place the fancy “launcher cup” but we are still a little uncertain about an ideal angle? We’re kind of hoping it just magically finds the perfect resting spot when we try…

Still wondering if we really found my cervix… As the tulip petal analogy only increased the giggling…

We plan on doing one insem with just the extended catheter with syringe and we definitely know the logistics of that method. However – we didn’t expect to see all that CM – It’s going to be mighty hard to find that tiny hole with our clouded view? I know we just need to get close but clearer visibility wouldn’t hurt… Does it get easier?

So things are coming along… We will initiate mission number 2 tonight… Watching the os – for signs of change.
